It's a Process

A few weeks back, I ran into this on my friend's Instagram story. I was sad that she was feeling this way, but I asked my friend if I can share this with my readers because it is so relatable. Life is hard and it's complicated. There are times when we feel lost, but we need to remember that things get better and we're not alone.

As we get older, we face reality and there tends to be more things to worry about. There are societal pressures and expectations we feel like we have to live up to and it drives us to a point where we lose touch of who we are and what makes us happy. This happens to the best of us and it's part of growing up.

I know this isn't the most fun topic to talk about, but I think it's important for us to be mindful and aware of how we're feeling and what those around us are also going through. Here are a few things to remember the next time you're feeling a little lost in life.

This is a phase in life you need to overcome & you'll come out from this experience stronger
No one ever said that life is easy. Hardships hit us when we least expect it or when we're on a high and think nothing can break us. While a lot of us wish that everything could be easy and work out the way we plan it, would we be who we are without those experiences? Through all the rejections, pain, and moments of confusion I've gone through, I've come to peace with why things happened the way they did. I discovered what I'm passionate about, learned to be resilient, and became more aware of what I want out of life. I'm still young and I know I'll run into moments of confusion and hard decisions down the line, but I've learned to have a positive outlook when I'm faced with challenges because ultimately, it will help me grow as a person.

Everyone writes their own story
It's natural to feel like you're not "good enough" or "doing enough" when we see people acing classes, traveling the world, and landing their dream job all while still having a social life. These people seem like they have their life together and social media would label them #goals. What people don't realize is that there's more to the story than what we see on the outside. Behind what seems like the "perfect" person is probably someone who struggling to balance time and asking whether they're doing life correctly, just like the rest of us. We can't truly be ourselves until we stop comparing our lives to others. Follow your passions, explore your curiosities, and share your unique story.

You are loved & sprinkle that love to everyone around you
When we're lost, it feels like we're letting others and ourselves down. It's hard to open up because we feel ashamed and are scared of being judged. Remember that you are loved and nothing will ever change that. Don't be afraid to reach out to someone and talk about how you're feeling. Having those tough conversations will be relieving and it gives a chance for others to show you how much they care about you. Remember to share that love with others as well. At some point, we all feel adrift in this world. Simply reaching out and a few words of affirmation can make all the difference. This happened to my friend; below, is an updated post that shows that just by having friends who reached out put her at ease. Be that person for your loved ones. While these changes don't always happen overnight, it's a step towards the right direction.

Life isn't a pretty picture, but is a collection of high and low moments. I hope this post gives you the strength to overcome those tough times, while spreading a little love along the way.
