Reasons I Love Seattle

A few weeks ago, Redfin reached out to collaborate on an article about unique things to do in Seattle and it made me think about how lucky I am to live in a city that has everything you’d want (except for sunnier winters haha). Whether you’re someone who enjoys adventuring in the outdoors or prefers to cozy up in a coffee shop, there’s a place for you!

For Dog Lovers - Marymoor Park & Dog Yard

I’ve gone to most dog parks in the greater-seattle area and Marymoor Park is a 11/10 for both dogs and their doggie parents. Marymoor is an off-leash park that sits on 40 acres of land for your dog to roam around, while you can get your steps in and enjoy the greenery around you. At the entrance of the park, they also have a doggie food truck and a self-service dog wash, so you can clean those muddy paws after a fun day of exploring!

Though, if you’re looking for a sit-down place to enjoy a drink with friends, Dog Yard is another favorite. It’s a bar and off-leash play park that’s open year round with heaters for those cold Seattle winters.

For The Nature Lover - Mount Pilchuck

One of the best things about living in Seattle is that you’re surrounded by nature and only a short drive from beautiful hikes.1.5 hours outside of Seattle, in the North Cascades, is Mt. Pilchuck. It’s a 6 mile round trip hike that leads you up to a fire lookout and you get panoramic views of mountains and lakes below. What makes this one of my favorites is that to get to the fire lookout viewpoint, hikers need to climb up a series of boulders.Though, beware that the drive up to the trailhead has a lot of potholes, so make sure you have a car that is ready for that! Some other favorite hikes include: Lake Serene, Lake 22, and Snow Lake.

For A Quick Getaway - Leavenworth

If you’re looking for a getaway outside of the city, 2 hours East brings you to the German town of Leavenworth. In the summer, tube down the Wenatchee river and in the winter, enjoy the festive Christmas lighting throughout town. While you’re there, don’t forget to stop by Andreas Keller for Bavarian cuisine. Pro tip: there’s always a wait, so I recommend putting your name down then exploring the village, playing mini golf at the icicle village next door, and getting ice cream from Whistlepunk Ice Cream Co. If you’re celebrating something special, book a stay at the Post Hotel where you’ll be in the heart of downtown Leavenworth with mountain views and access to their relaxing spa!

For the Coffee Lovers

Known to be the coffee capital of the US, there is no shortage of coffee shops in Seattle. Each one is unique and there’s a place for everyone whether you’re looking for a place to study, a place to catch up with friends, something modern or more rustic, we have it all! One of my favorite spots is tucked away on the top floor of Pike Place Market, Storyville. I love the warm ambiance from the wood panel walls and cozy fireplace. I also love that you can pier out the window and see the iconic Pike Place market sign and the visitors below. Some other favorites around the area: Starbucks Roastery, Zoka, Uptown Espresso, Oddfellows ,& Cafe Cesura!
