Seattle Airbnb Experiences

Airbnb launched Airbnb Experiences in 2016 and I didn’t know what to expect. I was always curious about it, but was also skeptical about the quality of experience, so it was always easier to do something tried and true like going to a new restaurant, exploring a new outdoor activity, etc. Though, when I met my boyfriend last summer, he suggested a cocktail making class for one of our dates and it was such a fun, bonding experience! Recently, we tried another experience together and made our own glassblowing creations. I enjoyed both of these dates so much and I am now a big fan of Airbnb Experiences! There are so many unique things to try and the hosts make it feel like a really personal experience.

Glassblowing

Our most recent experience was the Experience Glass Project with Motoko & Joshua (@koboartgarden). This was a 2 hour session and what I enjoyed most is that it is very hands on! They created a glassblowing studio in their garage and walked us through the full process of making a paper weight, ornament, and cup. From picking up the melted glass, adding color to our glass to blowing/shaping, they gave us full control and assisted us when we needed it. While some of the pieces didn’t turn out the most even, we’ll call them “organic”, it was such a fun process to learn and I’m so happy to have creations to take home as a memory.

Cocktail Making

My first Airbnb Experience was an Indoor Market Cocktail & Mocktail Class + Workshop with Jen. It’s located in Seattle’s Capitol Hill Neighborhood on the top floor of Melrose Market. The class started off with learning how to make three different versions of an old-fashioned, then we got free reign to make whatever we wanted! My boyfriend and I both really like gin, so Jen told us about different flavor combinations and taught us how to make infused gin. This is such a great class for beginner mixologists and she gives people a lot of flexibility to experiment and try various drinks! She was so kind and even let us spend extra time creating since we were the last group of the day!

If you’re in Seattle and looking for a new activity to try, I would highly recommend both of these or explore more on Airbnb Experiences. Also, would love to hear in the comments about any experiences you’ve tried since I’m looking forward to trying new experiences!
